COVID-19 and my study abroad plans
It was not long before that you were planning for your future in higher education and traveling to study abroad. Due to the current situation of COVID-19 around the globe, studying abroad plans have been affected the most. Decision-making is difficult during these times of the pandemic. It’s even more difficult as a student who is just getting started with the thoughts of studying abroad or with other opportunities.
Should you apply for the university in Europe or North America, Asia, or far Oceania? Should you begin your application or it is not the right time? or what happens to your existing application? or should you start with the language courses for your application?
There are many questions that have to be answered and we have listed the top ones to answer to make the process easier for you irrespective of the current happenings around.
Question 1. How will I travel abroad with all the restrictions on international travel?
Universities around the world are going digital, you can now enroll as a regular student and start taking classes through the digital channels of universities until the embassies and international borders reopen for traveling.
Question 2. There was so much uncertainty, I missed my deadline, I want to be a part of a particular intake and not miss the cycle. What to do?
If you are a prospective student who is planning to study abroad or even someone who is already a candidate for an undergraduate or postgraduate course abroad, the universities have made the timelines flexible and COVID-19 can no longer stop you from chasing your dreams to fly high.
Question 3. There have been some financial issues, is there any alternative way for fees payment?
Empathy is the key to pass this situation together and to ease that, universities across the world have brought the opportunity to ease the payment process for the semester fees for their prospective students. The fee payment process varies from installments in different forms.
Question 4. My Baccalaureate timeline seems uncertain and there are a lot of changes. Will that affect the requirements that the universities have?
If not the most but certainly one of the stressful parts of the admission process to study abroad is the entry requirements for the universities. Looking at the current happenings around the world, the education system has taken a complete turn to something we never thought was possible. Keeping that in mind, universities have made the entry requirements for prospective students and current applicants easier or have agreed to accommodate you according to the situation in your country. These are applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Question 5. How can I take language tests from home? How am I supposed to prepare?
IELTS or TOEFL? Which university accepts which? What should be the minimum score? Is the one I am choosing applicable for the country I am applying for? and many other questions related to language tests that pop up when you are applying for studying abroad. Universities have decided to either waive the language test requirement or create a custom online test for the university purpose. This not only fastens up your process but also brings a huge relief mentally and financially.
Question 6. Are there any scholarship opportunities that I can apply for, during these times?
During this pandemic, there are universities that are providing more scholarships than usual, and this is the time for the prospective students to grab the best offers available. This also in consideration of the fact that your merit will be taken into consideration to decide if you are eligible for the scholarship or not.
