Our guides to studying in Austria
See all guidesFrequently asked questions
Do I need to speak German to study in Austria?
For most bachelor's degrees, yes: an advanced level (often C1) is required. Several universities can admit you conditionally with preparatory German courses, and more and more master's programmes are in English.
Is the Tunisian baccalaureate enough?
The university checks that your baccalaureate gives access to the chosen field; depending on your stream, it may ask for additional exams or a successfully completed first year of higher education in Tunisia. We check your eligibility before you apply.
What budget should I plan?
At public universities, fees are around a few hundred euros per semester, plus a small student contribution. For living costs, allow generally €900 to €1,300 per month, more in Vienna.
