Frequently asked questions
Do I need to speak Japanese to study in Japan?
Not necessarily: master's and PhD programmes in English are more common and require IELTS or TOEFL. Bachelor's programmes are often in Japanese (JLPT or EJU), and the language remains important in daily life.
How can I get a MEXT scholarship?
The MEXT scholarship is fully funded but highly selective. You apply through the Embassy of Japan (call usually in spring, with written exams and an interview) or through some universities; we help you prepare your study plan, the exams and the interview.
What budget should I plan for living in Japan?
The cost of living is high in Tokyo and more affordable in other cities. Tuition fees, housing and travel need careful planning: we work out the budget with you depending on the institution.
