Destination
Study in Hungary
An affordable European destination, known for health studies in English.
Advantages
- Many programmes are taught in English: you do not need to speak Hungarian to study
- Tuition fees and the cost of living are lower than in Western Europe

- Degrees enjoy international recognition, depending on the institution and programme, and students can access Erasmus+ mobility opportunities, subject to eligibility conditions
- Two intakes are possible at some universities, in September and February, giving students more flexibility
Points to consider
- There is no blocked account, but bank statements for the last six months are required for the visa application and may be examined in detail. You must be able to explain the transactions on your account
- Tuition fees vary considerably depending on the university and field of study; they are generally higher at some private institutions and in medicine
- Even if some universities do not require proof of B2 English, proof of language level, such as IELTS, may be requested for the visa depending on the applicable requirements
- Finding a job after graduating can be difficult, especially without proficiency in Hungarian
- Although there are good universities in several cities across the country, many students prefer Budapest, which can increase competition for housing and push up costs
